About This Spot

Stepping into Penland Dining Hall, you’re met with the ebb and flow of a vibrant campus gathering spot—a place where the hum of conversation mingles with the clinking of trays and the cheerful greetings of staff. The space breathes a casual, communal spirit, its wide-open layout inviting students, faculty, and visitors alike to find their own nook, whether settled around a bustling table or near a sunlit window. There’s a comfortable rhythm here, neither rushed nor overly formal, that encourages lingering over a meal or catching up with friends in between classes.

The steady movement through the dining hall reveals a collage of choices, each station offering a small world of flavors and comfort. From the bright, fresh hues of the salad bar to the welcoming sizzle of made-to-order omelettes, the food feels like a thoughtful everyday pause—a chance to nourish not only the body but the moment itself. A lot of the food was better under Aramark in my opinion. Way more variety at certain stations, like pasta and pizza. And I miss the sandwich toasting machine.

Overall I find Penland to be a solid dining experience. It is a university food hall with lots of options and a very friendly staff.

1st time here, great big place for lots of choices to eat, for Baylor students and Faculties to dine with friends or family. Lots of spaces, Great food even though I only tried 2 places but all of lokked good. Staff was hospitable and very helpful.

We actually visited the Tennis Courts. The courts are nice, but the lights are crazy....they lit up the courts...but I was blinded on most shots 6 ft high and above. I lost my first match in many months....I can't blame it all on the lights, but they took a good # of points away from me... lost 6-7 in a tie breaker after being up 6-5 before we switched again...the side against the pickleball courts won 11 of the 12 games...that should tell you enough.

Wow! That is all I have to say about this place. We attended an event here with our daughter who is considering going to Baylor. I was completely amazed at the variety of food that was available. There was a line with pizza, a sandwich line, Mexican line, BBQ, Asian, salad bar and a few others. Another cool thing I liked was that they had many different types of infused waters to choose from. I like that there are enough choices that you could try something new for many weeks.
